Leslie Fritz (formerly Renwick) is inaugurating a new space at 44 Hester Street with Caitlin Keogh's first solo exhibition in New York. For this exhibition Keogh will show a new grouping of works from her Bargello series. The Bargello series takes its name from a specific kind of needlepoint design, which the artist has utilized as a starting point for her paintings. The works on view are delicately rendered with all-over patterns in thin veils of acrylic paint. They simultaneously recall historical painting tenets such as pattern and decoration and op as well as commercially produced textiles, DIY crafting techniques, fashion and industrial design.
